Our client for this project was seeking to perform a demolition and renovation of a section of a South Brisbane Tavern. Initial investigation from the engineer found a complicated mix of roof structures and building methodology due to historical undocumented renovations.

In order to safely design the demolition process and perminant structure the existing structure needed to be fully mapped and understood. Roofs & Ceiling spaces are where LiDAR system traditionally fail to work.

Oculus worked with the eningeer and investigation teams utlisied our combination of scanning and terrestiral positioning to capture and model the existing roof sturcture.

Revealing an interesting combination of Timber Structure, Steel Portal Frames and Steel/Timber composite truss systems. The Engineering team was able to confidently complate the structural design knowing the site measurements were accurately modelled. Without our LiDAR scanning the process may have taken months of complicated site measurements and back and forth modelling. Oculus provided the roof strutural model in just over a week.
