Zilmere Home Extension

Oculus completed LiDAR scanning and BIM modeling for a residential property in Zillmere to support the owner's proposed extension and deck addition. The project required documentation of the existing dwelling including underfloor areas with restricted access. Using the NavVis MLX mobile mapping system, scanning was successfully completed in the confined spaces with head clearance of 1200mm. The compact SLAM-based navigation of the MLX enabled capture of the subfloor structure including foundation elements, bearers, joists, and spatial clearances. The registered point cloud data was processed into an as-built BIM model providing dimensional control for the proposed extension design and structural engineering assessment of load transfer requirements from the new works to existing foundations.
