Project required setout of both internal structural members and the layout of the solar panels on the roof in relation to each other.
Project Outcomes
Using a mix of Terrestrial and NavVis MLS Oculus was able to complete a full scan of the building. Final registration of the scan had a global error of under 5mm.
Oculus completed the LiDAR scanning and BIM modeling of the roof structure at Coles Bell Central to support structural remediation design. The project provided the structural engineer with dimensional layout of the existing roof framing configuration, connections, and support elements.
Point cloud data was captured using terrestrial and mobile laser scanners and processed into a BIM model with geometry and structural member information. The deliverable enabled the structural engineer to develop remediation design with accurate spatial relationships to existing conditions, member sizing, and connection details. Utilising the exsting structure and minimising the need for additional new steel.
